Region Free has been doing translation and rewrite work for Viz Media since January 2006, and is pleased to announce that we can now reveal more details about the following projects:
Voyage to the Moon World is a Rurouni Kenshin novel written by Kaoru Shizuka. Based on the popular manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki, the book contains two original stories, "Voyage to the Moon World" and "Sanosuke and the Nishiki-e." While not part of the manga, both of these stories were adapted for the animated Rurouni Kenshin television series. The translation work for the book was handled by Cindy Yamauchi, with Mark Giambruno providing the English adaptation. The book will be available in October.
Fullmetal Alchemist Anime Profiles is a character guide and art book centered on the popular anime series, which was featured on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim as well as released on DVD by Funimation. Cindy Yamauchi and Hitomi Shirai did the translation work, and Mark Giambruno wrote the English adaptation. The book is due out in November.
Train_Man (aka Densha Otoko) is a manga based on a love story between an anime/game otaku and a woman he protects from a drunkard on a train. The unique thing about this tale is that the events were taken from postings the young man made on Japan's popular 2-channel forums. This title also marks the first time Region Free has managed the graphics end as well as the script. The translation was done by Cindy Yamauchi, the English adaptation by Mark Giambruno and the artwork retouch and lettering by James Tonjes and Jack Blazkiewicz of RJP-Pro, Inc.
In addition to these works, we have another novel and two manga series we are currently working on for Viz. We'll provide details on these once they are officially announced.
